The Nepalese electric vehicle market has seen another round of price adjustments, with Paramount Motors revising the pricing of its MG EV lineup following recent changes in government tax policies.
The newly launched MG S6 EV has received a price hike of Rs 2 Lakh, while the MG S5 EV has also become more expensive, with both of its variants witnessing a Rs 1 Lakh increase.
Originally launched in May 2026, the MG S6 EV entered the Nepal market at a starting price of Rs 69.99 Lakh under Paramount Motors.
Positioned between the MG S5 EV and the MG IM6, the mid-size electric SUV is offered exclusively in the Trophy Long Range variant in Nepal. With the latest revision, the model now sits at a higher price point, reflecting the impact of updated import duties and taxation on EVs.
Meanwhile, the MG S5 EV lineup has also been affected. Both available variants—the Luxury (49 kWh) and Luxury (62 kWh)—have seen a uniform increase of Rs 1 Lakh each. Following the revision, the updated prices now stand at:
- MG S5 EV Luxury (49 kWh): Rs 50.99 Lakh
- MG S5 EV Luxury (62 kWh): Rs 55.99 Lakh
The S5 EV continues to sit below the newly introduced S6 EV in MG’s Nepal portfolio, which also includes the MG4 EV and MG IM6. The adjustment places both models at new price thresholds in an increasingly competitive EV SUV segment.
With rising taxes directly influencing retail pricing, distributors are expected to periodically revise EV costs in Nepal’s evolving regulatory environment.
Despite the price increase, both the S5 and S6 EVs remain key offerings for MG, targeting buyers seeking long-range electric SUVs with premium features and urban practicality. The prices of other models - MG4 EV and MG IM6 remain unaffected.
